After four decades of living together, Ben and George finally get married in a small, but perfectly formed ceremony surrounded by their friends and family. Soon after though, the marriage causes George to lose his job teaching music in a catholic school and as he is their sole earner they have to sell their apartment and having to enlist the help of their friends for a place to stay they must separate whilst George beds down on the couch with his cop neighbours and Ben bunks in with his nephew's family. Thus begins a story of how easily lives can be disrupted by the most innocent of foibles.

Actually I say "story" but there isn't much of one here. The fantastic character performances aside, what I found was left is a wave of melancholic whimsy. Quite frankly it bored me and I watched this on a plane. I seem to be in the minority though, as this is a widely regarded film. Just wasn't for me.
