How can you bring one of the most iconic love stories ever told in celluloid? Cast two wonderful lead, show some beautiful images and stay true to the book. And thats exactly what Mike Newell did...and with some aplomb.
Especially the acting of Bardem and Giovanna...marvellous! Even Benjamin Bratt chipped in very impressively. Modern age needs 53 year old love stories like this...thats why probably it felt so special.
