Review of Love in the Time of Cholera (2007) by Marilee A — 07 Jul 2011
Great production values and beautifully shot with some really good performances, but the problem lies with the protagonist. You like him early on, but as the film progresses and his "unwavering love and fealty" towards his soul-mate continues to waver and crumble in a massive wreck of infidelity, you start to really really hate the guy.
There are many things in the film to be frustrated about, but chief among them is the sheer difference in emotional states you feel from very positive to very negative that you feel for the guy that ruins what was so great far earlier on.
