Review of Love in the Time of Cholera (2007) by Eric H — 25 Jun 2009
I don't know why, but I liked this film. The acting was questionable, and some of the scenes with Javier Bardem balling like a child seemed like an SNL skit. However, despite the creepy idea of a 50 year stalker, the concept of a lifelong love is somehow comforting.
Though I've never read the book, I can appreciate that the original story was much more involved and realistic. The backdrop is beautiful, and the themes do somehow make sense. If you liked The Notebook, The Bridges of Madison County, or any other like-themed love stories, I would recommend giving this one a watch.
