Review of Love Happens (2009) by Samantha M — 24 Dec 2010
The title "love happens" makes absolutely no sense in relation to this film. this movie is about a man who has to learn to deal with his own grief in the wake of helping others come to terms with their own.
though I get that we're supposed to believe him falling for this girl is what really pushes him to deal with his wife's death, it seems more likely that the town, his in-laws and the people in his seminars are actually better catalysts for his self-discovery than some chick that makes him laugh sometimes.
if anything, she's a secondary story, so pretending like this film is about two people falling in love is ridiculous. that's why the movie doesn't really work; she isn't important enough, and his story has holes because of it.
