Review of Love Happens (1999) by Alexandra P — 03 Mar 2010
Aaron Eckhart is terribly... unsalted, but then again he is playing a guy that cannot and has not got over his wife's death. People who are grieving tend to be unsalted, yes.
The script deals quite delicately with the passing of a loved one and this is a good point for the movie - cried my eyes out towards the end, but also found some laughter too. But unfortunately they needed to make it an uplifting one, so they patched from time to time some very Hollywoodian moments: people clapping to emphasise an emotional turnaround, and the usual tricks.
3 stars because the idea of the movie comes through: just because someone close died, doesn't mean you need to die too. And eventually life happens.
