Review of Love Happens (1999) by Tony F — 09 Apr 2010
Love Happens is perhaps supposed to be a rom-com but, it actually becomes a movie about dealing with grief.
Some of the bad reviews are because there isn't enough 'laughs' in it. I see the cup half full.
Dealing with grief is hard, this movie brings out some of those emotions. I've dealt with a few tragedies and and could feel things in this movie. I'm not a huge Eckhart fan but, Aniston gives a decent character as the 'voice of reason' in this vehicle and the crucifying her in this movie is unjust. We all know real women in real life just like her character; walled up, distrusting of men, played, and built a wall... and I enjoyed her cast and performance part.
I'm also a Seattle native and the cinematography is perhaps THE best views of Seattle I have ever seen in a movie period. I'm going to buy it on Blu Ray for the wonderful cinematography alone, it's definitive.
Seattle may be the most gorgeous '2nd tier' city in the world, I hope people are not mad about that, lol.
;p.
Give the movie a look see, there are MANY movies out there with much better ratings that blow seriously. That said, this movie stands on it's on and I enjoyed it.
