Review of Love Crime (2010) by Mike V — 07 Sep 2011
This was perhaps one of the biggest disappointments for me at the LA Film Festival. Most of the time I love these type of films, but this film doesn't work on any level. The film looks good and the actors all play their roles decent enough, but I think it's poorly directed. First off, there isn't one likable character in this movie. Right off the bat not one single character is likable. I mean I guess I was supposed to real bad for the main character, Christine, because her boss is a bitch, but to be honest I liked her boss more than her. Now I could be wrong and maybe the characters aren't supposed to be likable in this movie, and if that's the case then this movie did a poor job of that too.
Another thing that bugged me was how random everything is. I want get into any spoilers, but some of the scenes come out of nowhere and a lot of the scenes are pointless. There for the sake of just being there to make the film a certain length. So, this was supposed to be a thriller but I'll tell you I was incredibly bored. The film moves at a snail's pace, and if that was the film's intention then it backfired cause it didn't appear that way, at least to me. Really, I can why people would like this movie, but it really bored me and I couldn't wait for it to over. Also, the ending is incredibly stupid and the film suffers from being, possibly, the most predictable film I've ever seen.
