Review of Love & Other Drugs (2010) by Josiana L — 07 Jul 2012
Love & Other Drugs fails to bring anything new to the tired predictability of the genre, but I would say it's a notch above most. The film does suffer from formula and your theory of the ending is likely correct, but the film manages to touch on a few more adult subjects that most fail to do such as the pharmaceutical wars , parkinsons and a slightly realistic take on the romance.
The presence of it's stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Anne Hathaway elevate the film with their excellent chemistry and make up for the incredibly uneven screenplay. Overall, I found this a relatively good little romcom that is nothing extraordinary but well worth watching for the chemistry of it's stars.
