I drool for the lead actress, so while I'm not fond of this genre, this film was a mandatory stop for me. I admit that because of the subject the story deals with, I was intrigued for how it was going to be handled, but apparently from what I read before watching it, the webtoon this film is based on is not graphic, and also I think that it has something to do with Netflix market in South Korea, and the public image of both lead actors.

So this is just basically a very light attempt at 50 Shades of Grey, but way more focused on silly comedy and romance. Forget about anything sexually charged or explicit. The way it approaches the BDSM theme is merely PG-13.

It does not stigmatize its practitioners, but neither does it venture into anything more thorough or detailed. This is mostly due to the lack of development of both lead characters, which also drags a lack of direction for them and their motivations. If you've seen light South Korean comedies before, you'll realize pretty soon what Love and Leashes has to offer overall.
