Review of Love & Friendship (2016) by Amelia C — 09 Jun 2016
Efficient, sharp, witty, lively, measured, and exceptionally well-cast, Whit Stillman's "Love & Friendship" is probably the strongest film adaptation of Jane Austen's work since 1995 (when the BBC's productions of "Pride & Prejudice" and "Persuasion" set the gold standard).
Stillman's keen observations of manners and mores have long been his calling card as a writer and director, which makes this pairing with Jane Austen seem natural, if not inevitable. Outstanding.
