The bitingly charming Kate Beckinsale steals the show as a comely widow in search of security for herself and her daughter. Based on an unfinished Jane Austen novel, it has Whit Stillman's hands all over if with faced paced and witty dialog and even an appearance by one of his repertory players, Chloe Sevingy.
Sumptuous costumes and scenery add to the charm.
