Review of Love and Death (2013) by David M — 29 May 2008
A few hilarious scenes, some memorable lines, but mostly 'Love and Death' is notable as a clear transition movie between his "earlier, funnier movies" and his later, semi-serious work.
Oftentimes the scenes play out more like sketch comedy than a coherent movie, despite its obvious plot. The intellectual references Allen began infusing into his movies around this time don't seem quite as organic as they later would.
It's definitely worth watching once or twice, but it's not a classic.
