Review of Love and Death (2013) by Brittanie J — 10 Nov 2009
"And so I walk through the valley of the shadow of death. Actually, make that "I run through the valley of the shadow of death" - in order to get OUT of the valley of the shadow of death more quickly, you see.".
Woody Allen never seizes to delight his viewers with original, clever and incredibly witty lines and dialogue and it's for that reason that I am such a fan of his films. This film proves to be another win for ole' Mr. Allen with it's creative and humorous philosophizing over two of the world's eternal mysteries, Love and Death. I always love watching Diane Keaton and Woody Allen play in a movie together because I feel they work off of eachother very well and have some sort of very odd yet cute chemistry. Allen pokes fun at heroic, patriotic acts (such as killing Napoleon for the good of the world) in a manner that I don't find to be offensive or insulting but rather just very humorous and enjoyable. Another fine film, Woody, another fine film!
Anton: If you so much as come near the Countess, I'll see that you never see the light of day again.
Boris: If a man said that to me, I'd break his neck.
Anton: *I* am a man.
Boris: Well, I mean a much shorter man.
