Review of Love Affair (1994) by Morgan S — 11 Feb 2011
A.k.a. Warren Beatty gets a movie studio to pay for his fucking Tahitian honeymoon. I hated the 1939 melodramatic original and this one was just as dull. Remember the scene in "Sleepless in Seattle" where they describe a couple who vow to meet at the top of the Empire State Building- but she gets hit by a car before getting there? "Chick movie"? This is the remake of that movie. And they follow that same rediculousness.
Also, they trot out 80-some year old Katherine Hepburn to make her unfortunate last feature appearance. She was actually pretty cold and lifeless for the most part. I will give some credit to Annette Bening, who is charming and calmly beautiful. And the on location shots are well worth the trip. But Warren still slept through the readings of a boring script that he helped to adapt from a bad idea to begin with.
