Review of Love Aaj Kal (2009) by Raheel S — 02 Sep 2009
"Poor Indian Audiences - they will dance to any tune and will like any films you make, just stud it with lots of glamour." Awful direction, Imtiaz Ali fails to create any enthusiasm. The first half tries to be humorous, but fails miserably, with an older looking Saif Ali Khan and plain jane Deepika Padukone (she should have followed on her dad's footsteps towards Badminton).
However the jokes makes one wonder what happened to Indian Cinema. Lots of glitter but no substance. The story revolves between now and then, with "now" swarmed with easy sex, and "then" with stupid dialogues and overacting.
The only bit of refreshing moments are the "Kal" moments or the old times storyline. And its brilliant to see Harleen Kaur (whoc could have imagined she is a Brazillian Lass). One time watch? .
... May be. We need more Vishal Bharadwaj, Shimit Amin, Farhan Akhtars as directors.
