Review of Love Aaj Kal (2009) by Ameena T — 13 Oct 2009
Love Aaj Kal is not at all a bad film, it has some ample of good moments. Imtiaz Ali's Dialouge yet again stands out in this flick'. The best part of the film is Veer-Singh & Harleen Kaur's love story because it has innocence and simplicity where it doesn't try to be hard whereas SAIF-DEEPIKA tracks looses momentum and drags.
Pritam's music contributes to the warmest moments like ''Yeh Dooriyan'', ''Chor Bazaari'' & ''Twist''. In terms of Performance SAIF ALI KHAN & DEEPIKA PADUKONE does some earnest job but it is unsatisfactory, If you compare Imtiaz Ali's last two films (SOCHA NA THA & JAB WE MET)the performance was the highlight but sadly it is not the case here due to poor and sketchy characterization.
RISHI KAPOOR, however steals the show as the latter Veer Singh & doesn't miss a single beat. NEETU SINGH has a cameo appearance as Latter Harleen Kaur but it's a different experience to see her onscreen after 2 decades, she is Gracious.
GISELE MONTARIO is pretty and only has two dialouges to deliver, yet she sparkles in it. all I can say A CUTER VERSION OF TABU. Love Aaj Kal strikes a chord in right place but the screenplay bores you a lot.
Unlike SOCHA NA THA & JAB WE MET which can be seen many times, LOVE AAJ KAL is only a one-time watch!!!!
