Review of Love (2015) by Jon P — 03 Aug 2016
Interesting in its ambition, but misguided in its delivery, Gaspar Noe's hypersexual drama sets out to explore the singular mopey mindset of one millennial unlucky in love. Sadly interspersed with shots of CGI semen.
Gorgeously scored and gratuitously raunchy, the film floats between lifetime-long sexcapades and sigh-worthy stresscapades, pausing occasionally for the odd bout of genuinely interesting reflection on the nature of relationships.
Noe seems to think that Love is Jean-Luc Godard for the Twitter generation. Viewers are more likely to see it as the cinematic equivalent of a disappointing threesome: one man's moaning disguised by disinterested titties.
