Review of Louis C.K.: Hilarious (2010) by Nick O — 30 Oct 2010
This'll sound weird: but "Hilarious" opens with a joke. The rest of Louis C.K., the 41-year-old (and aging) stand-up comedian and his act are as natural as follows: talking up the shit-storm of irony that is his life; calling out social wreckage by often incoherently mumbling like he's not trying hard enough to chew his food; and as is C.
K.'s style, going home with the welcome burden of his two daughters on his shoulders. Don't look too much into it - he flies high by drawing us in with fearless improvisation you can't get from anyone else.
Who is this "asshole", as he's so accepted himself as being? He's Louis C.K., and he's the greatest comedian still breathing.
