Review of Lottery Ticket (2010) by Nicole H — 06 Sep 2010
My husband & I go to the movie show once or twice a week and this is the first time I have felt compelled to write a movie review. From the reviews we had seen, we almost didn't go to see this movie. We were pleasantly surprised. I thought it would be a silly comedy with lots of "hood" and sex humor. It wasn't the over the top silly I was expecting, it had a lot of heart and dealt with some very real issues that come up in this type of situation. By the way, my husband and I are lilly white. I just thought I would mention it because this movie is an all black cast and no, I have no experience in the hood, but I've known my share of poor people. I'm trying (unsuccessfully) to avoid the use of the words "white trash," because being poor doesn't make you trash, but there always seems to be a very unsavory element that exists among poor communities as we all know. Drugs, alcohol abuse, etc... Maybe that part wasn't real enough. But I go to the show to be entertained and this had enough drama and enough humor and enough violence to make me feel the real message coming through. Thoroughly enjoyed the ride and would like to think I would be as honorable and worthy as he was in the end had I won.
I loved it!
P.S. My stepdad won a 2.5 million dollar lottery several years ago, so I am no totally ignorant on the subject.
