Review of Lost in Translation (2003) by Lucas P — 13 May 2012
God, that's a big review. But here we go.
Sofia Coppola is the daughter of Francis Ford Coppola, if you don't know. The director of The Godfather. The Godfather for goodness sake! And his daughter is making a movie? Well, Francis probably made the Executive Producers an offer they couldn't refuse.
NO HE DIDN'T!
Believe or not, she wrote, produced and directed this entire movie without any help from her father.
Jesus, this should be a awful movie. Some spoiled daughter thinks she can make a movie, and--.
Stop.
Stop right there.
I don't know if she inherited her talent from her father, or if she just learned watching his movies. But what you see in Lost in Translation is a completely mature and not-Coppola Sofia. The last thing you'd say about this film is that it's director is related to Francis Coppola.
It's a mix of Woody Allen, cult writing and modern photography.
Definitely on the top five of best movies on history.
P.S.: It just didn't got the Oscar for best picture because everybody had pity on Peter Jackson. Yea, I said it!
