Review of Lost in Translation (2003) by Luxo J — 11 Aug 2012
The story is about Bob Harris (Bill Murray) and Charlotte (Scarlet Johansen) who are two Americans who meet each other in Tokyo by crossing paths when they can't get to sleep at night. They form a really great friendship and discover Tokyo's night life with some funny encounters with some citizens.
When I first heard of this, I thought that it would be my type of movie. What really struck me was the fact that it bet FINDING NEMO to best original screenplay at the Oscars, I thought that it must have a very original story. It was also nominated for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor. I thought that if THE LORD OF THE RINGS: RETURN OF THE KING wasn't there, then LOST IN TRANSLATION probably would have taken home the Best Picture prize, because of it's success at the Golden Globes (I'm not saying this is better than RETURN OF THE KING!) So anyway, I found that I wasn't disappoint by this, it did in fact have an original story and I loved it. Bill Murray and Scarlet Johansen were great, they reminded me of the way I am when I can't get to sleep at night, which happens to me fairly regularly. I would recommend this everyone, because it really is a feel good film.
