1998 was a pretty bloody terrible year for movies (Godzilla, The Avengers, all those asteroid movies) and as such this poorly written and poorly cast misfire amazingly didn't even win a single Razzie that year.

In the ten years since I saw this in the cinemas I'd forgotten how truly hysterically awful Matt LeBlanc's performance is. This was his only real big screen role and it's easy to see why, his character on Friends was no act. From the very first couple of minutes into Lost in Space there are numerous times where his line delivery or facial expressions will make you burst out laughing.

The rest of the cast is pretty uneven and looking about as lost as their characters. Gary Oldman comes off the best which is no surprise. The special effects range from moderately impressive to some amusing early CG gone very very wrong (Blarp). The story is...absent.

There are some entertaining moments buried in this train wreck and, well, if nothing else as mentioned LeBlanc's attempt to play a wise cracking tough guy is a laugh a minute.

[See if you like unintentional comedy, Gary Oldman or would like to remember when Heather Graham was hot and still had a career.].
