Review of Lost in America (1985) by Mec R — 01 Mar 2008
I'm not one to like movies about yuppies but the more I think about it the more it grows on me.
So many great scenes/lines of dialouge litter this thing its hard to believe it doesn't have a bigger following. When it comes to neurotic jews, "Lost in America" towers over ANYTHING Woody Allen has ever done (OK, maybe Landau's final monologue in "Crimes & Misdemeanors" is better).
For what it's worth I'd be tempted to give this film a perfect 10 if it weren't for the really abrupt and overtly up-beat tone of the film's ending (I actually like the idea of things coming full circle, just not the way its dealt with here-- but I can ignore that).
Fans of Larry David and "Curb Your Enthusiasm" need to check this out. Pronto.
It's the best movie I ever purchased for 99 cents.
