Many are saying of this and Mullholland Drive that they are fascinating movies because you can't really figure them out. I don't agree. I don't agree about them being fascinating for that reason and I certainly don't agree about not being able to figure them out.
Sure, there are more than one explanations or interpretations. They are complex movies using Freudian concepts and many other ones. It takes several viewings to absorb everything. There are many details in those movies, and don't go thinking they are fucked up for the sake of it, there are clues.
You can't figure them out just by yourself, you need to talk about it with people, so you can feed each other.Lost Highway makes very much sense. A film noir meets a road movie. There are some incredible shots in this.
The soundtrack is perfectly suiting. And Robert Blake makes a memorable Mystery Man.It takes a few viewings to finally be entertained by this. I disagree about this film being fascinating because you can't figure it out.
I think it's more fascinating when you know where to look at.
