Lynch is obviously a smart writer. This movie seems impossible to figure out but there's a way. He uses visuals to tell key plot points so characters don't have to say anything plus it'd be weird if they did.
Imagine if Robert Blake kept saying "This cabin is a time machine". Anyone dismissing this as a pretentious plotless film, you're just not trying. And that comment would better suit Inland EMpire anyway because that in fact is nothing more than a pretentious plotless fil.
