Review of Lost Highway (1997) by Nate G — 12 Apr 2012
Lost Highway is basically as dark of a movie as they get. The things I liked about this film were it exactly that darkness, along with the very creepy performance by Robert Blake. Much of the movie was totally incomprehensible while other parts made some sense. In the end, it all tied together... sort of. It left enough questions to make it maybe a little too confusing, but not so many that it was not intriguing. There's not a whole lot else I can say about the movie w/out spoiling, but the cinematography was pretty creative and so was some of the dialog. At times things were perhaps a little over-dramatic for my taste, which seems to be Lynch's style, but it wasn't a bad movie. If you like movies that make you think, and perhaps confuse you this one might interest you.
Afterthought: I normally don't mind being confused by a movie, and at times prefer it, but why does this movie seem to be immune to the criticism that other- sometimes less confusing movies are bombarded w/?
