Review of Lost Highway (1997) by Sean S — 11 Dec 2012
Lost Highway is another David Lynch film which probably doesn't even really make sense to the man himself. While critics and audiences try to reason that it's a film about identity and psychological confusion, the result is a less relevant or truly enjoyable film than Lynch's other works like Blue Velvet or Mulholland Drive.
Lost Highway might be mildly captivating at times because of its unusual combination of elements and series of events (after only a few days of a prison sentence for supposedly killing his wife, Fred Madison, played by Bill Pullman, changes into Pete Dayton, played by Balthazar Getty, and is subsequently released), but even trying to fully comprehend all its twists and turns would render the point of Lynch's films moot and is not worth the effort for films of this caliber.
