Review of Lost Highway (1997) by Edgar C — 27 Dec 2011
Whereas some credit Mulholland Dr. as the most difficult Lynch masterpiece to interpret, Lost Highway is a truly confusing mindfuck. Characters do not disappear inexplicably (as some of you affirm they do); they are reinterpreted and put in an alternate reality, but are still the same nonetheless.
The top-notch direction is so unbelievably intense that, no matter how big the second half was as a diversion, Lost Highway is an extraordinarily scary and bizarre roller-coaster ride. It ranks among the finest thrillers of the decade, and it is a huge achievement for Lynch who already needed to make one more step forward for defining his style permanently in 2001.
86/100.
