Review of Lost Highway (1997) by Richard C — 04 Jun 2009
Even on the second viewing this raises more questions than answers yet it isn't as compelling as Lynch's best work. Lost Highway is slower paced than Mulholland Drive or Fire Walk With Me and it doesn't have the same kind of visceral qualities of those two films.
Unlike Betty in Mulholland and Laura in Twin Peaks the lead female character is much less likeable, that may be in part due to Arquette's bland performance. Lost Highway is solid but it feels like a bit of a missed opportunity.
Having said that I still wouldn't rule out returning to it one day.
