David Lynch's "Lost Highway" seems to share some similarities with "Mulholland Drive," which I need to see again at some point. Along with "Mulholland Drive," "Blue Velvet," and "The Straight Story" are all good films, however "Lost Highway" falls behind because it is a lot more style than substance, if any.

It has great sex scenes, quite engaging and entertaining, I was looking forward to seeing how the mystery/thriller unfolds. I clearly do not understand what the point was, though. The setting is so clean (I've always admired Lynch's locations in his films), the performances by the two leads at times seem dull or out of life, which is what this film is, it really has a modicum of emotional level you can connect to.

Maybe, this was part of the plan, to bring an odd feel to the movie, no surprise the other characters in the film acting strange as well. If you look under the plot, the film is empty, but I still admired how Lynch actually puts together each event and connects them into an illogical whole.

"Lost Highway" is an acceptable work by one of the better directors of our time.
