Review of Lost Boys: The Tribe (2008) by Peter H — 31 Jul 2010
One only wonders momentarily why this sequel went straight to video as "The Lost Boys- The Tribe" is an indecipherable turd. Sure it gets the award for the stupidest credit introductions as they play out in front of a severed vampire head laying underwater.
Trying to cash in on the original film, this one is only a pale shadow of the original, with a slightly similar story, and just the Coreys reprising their roles. Corey Feldman gets his longest screen time probably since "The Burbs" as he comically attempts to channel Clint Eastwood, but one can't really tell sadly if it's for humor or if Corey is being serious.
The original film was more like a "St Elmo's Fire" framing a brat pack for that generation. This film has none of that synergy. In fact it has little soul to speak of. The setting looks nothing like California and the characters motivations go little beyond their vacuous initial intent or regret from their mistakes.
The film is so pointless I'd get more out of starting a car, letting it idle, and run out of gas.
