Although in general this wasn?t a terrible movie with any serious problems, it is one that takes its place among the many others that made me shrug my shoulders and think ?why?? I mean as far as the zombie sub-genre goes, this one didn?t give me anything new or done better than many other similar releases. It is even worse if it was meant as a remake of Romero?s third zombie film of the same title. The SFX are good enough. The soundtrack is forgettable but not distracting. The acting was nothing amazing, but there were no bad performances. The plot is not original as far as the horror genre goes, nor as far as the zombie sub-genre. Like everything else, it isn?t a bad story, but it isn?t anything original or great. If you just have to see every single zombie movie ever made, watching this one won?t hurt. If it isn?t that important to you to be a zombie movie completist, then I wouldn?t make this movie a priority to view..

With some minor editing for language, this one could easily be played on TV with few other changes needed. Yeah, that wasn?t a complement. The story line isn?t horrible but it is so unlikely (even for a supernatural horror film) that it really pushes the disbelief suspension. The characters are a cliché of stereotypical personalities that have been paraded through horror movies for decades. The actors that were tasked to bring these walking stereotypes to life do so with lots of gusto, but a minimum of actual skill. The SFX would work great for a 90s episode of Xena: Warrior Princess but for a movie release (even an independent, direct to DVD release) they are disappointing. The music score doesn?t do much, and it certainly doesn?t add to any of the action on the screen. I really can?t recommend using up any time or especially money on viewing this one..

Being a big fan of the original I really wanted, despite first indications otherwise, this movie to be good. I?ll start by saying it was cool seeing the ?two Coreys? in the film and they do OK with the parts they were given. Unfortunately this sequel just doesn?t have the atmosphere nor the great twists that the first film gave us many years ago. The effects and the soundtrack are the strongest elements of the movie. Both do well to add to the action. The story, with some cursory minor changes, is pretty much a repeat of the first movie?s plot, yet with out the good turns and surprises of the original. The same can be said about the acting. No lead role in this second film really shines at all, where one of the things that made the first movie so good was the performances of the majority of the cast. As an independent release vampire film it isn?t bad and vampire fans who have to see them all could watch this one and still enjoy it. As a sequel to a now classic modern vampire film it is a poor follow-up..

This is one of those movies that I kinda feel sorry for. Weird, I know, so let me explain. There isn?t anything wrong with this movie, seriously, nothing. The story isn?t totally original, but it is an OK story. The acting isn?t bad. The music is OK. The special effects are, yup, you guessed it, OK. Yeah, this movie is OK. That?s why I feel sorry for it though. It?s just average. It?s not one I will remember much past writing this review. It?s not one most folks will remember once they move on to watching another movie. It just sits there being, well, OK. In my opinion its biggest problem is that it takes a very long time to set up for a climax that ends up actually being rather mildly cliché. Despite the long set up, it tries, but doesn?t succeed in creating any real spine tingling atmosphere. I can honestly say that it wasn?t bad, viewing it, but it could have been so much better..
