Review of Lost Boys: The Thirst (2010) by Seth Y — 01 Feb 2011
It's your typical direct-to-video horror sequel. The acting and production values are a little weak, but its heart is in the right place. It's not nearly as fun as the original (but then again, you can't re-capture that spirit - a lot of it had to do with the 80s), but it is respectful to the source material, it takes a few jabs at Stephenie Meyer, and best of all, it retcons nearly everything in the absolutely unforgivable teen-slasher movie"The Tribe.".
Most of the comedy is gone - the biggest joke of the original was that the kids were trying to act like adults, but completely freaked out when actually faced with vampires. But thankfully, it somehow manages to not take itself too seriously, and there are occasional glimpses of the camp that made the original so entertaining.
Nothing special, but worth a watch if you're a fan of the original.
