Review of Lost and Delirious (2001) by Rob C — 15 Mar 2010
Lost and Delirious has a charm and sophistication to it's plot that completely overshadows it's scenes. Where we see two girls much in love with eachother, we get the assumption of gratuitous sexual exploration between the two.
But, in truth, the film is much deeper than that. It goes beyond all the stereotypical lesbian films we're introduced to nowadays. The sleaze that accompanies them are nowhere to be found, a good thing; and allows the films true meaning to shine through, the love between two individuals.
Piper Perabo shows her true acting ability as one of the aforementioned girls in love. Her partner in Jessica Paré equally showcases immense talent and rounds off a film with a sensual, provocative and emotive storyline.
Lost and Delirious is a powerful and cathartic journey between two individuals and the struggle of one's undying love to the other. The hinting of a coming-of-age plot, is completely irrelevant; expressing a much deeper film than that.
The expansive and beautiful way this film was delivered is a sight to behold and take in.
