Review of Losing Isaiah (1995) by Jamie G — 16 Mar 2008
Realistically, this can happen--a mother gives up her child because she feels she can't care for him (or she gives him up by default, like in this film, because of bad life choices) and then decides that she wants him back, even after an adoption is final.
I like that this film shows both sides--a biological mother who has overcome many struggles and wants a second chance to be a parent to her baby, and an adoptive mother who loves the child just as much and also wants what's best for him.
The movie doesn't give easy answers, because there aren't any.
