Review of Loser (2000) by Steph O — 19 Jul 2010

Loser is one of the more frustrating viewing experiences in my life. Just when you think it might have legs, it turns out that it's a double amputee that's been walking on really short stilts.

Mixed in between some nice performances was some of the most telegraphed writing I've ever been witness to. It's hard to believe how obvious every point of contention is. The bad guys are really bad. The good guy is really good. Everybody says everything at exactly the right time to either create or resolve a problem. I wish real life was more like Loser. It would make figuring out why my barely legal goth girlfriend stays asleep for days at a time.
