Review of Los Punks: We Are All We Have (2016) by Kurt N — 13 Sep 2016
Though the actual people and stories in this are very interesting, and the subject matter itself is very compelling, the way it is told is very uninteresting. I found myself bored with the visual content in it (obviously, despite the interviews and concert scenes).
A story about punks needs way more energy in the way it is put on screen. Furthermore, the overall story and narrative isn't pieced together in an outstanding way. It just feels like someone is reading off a list, "These are some punks we interviewed in South Central. 1)...2)...3)...etc. The editing too is very flat; we're talking about a pocket of some very eye-catching culture in the middle of one of the most run-down areas in the country, yet I don't see the same energy they talk about depicted on screen.
