Review of Lorna's Silence (2008) by Andrew S — 28 Mar 2010
I have love/hate relationship with French cinema. French films have this tendency to be well written scripts that are extremely character driven. The actors in them are amazing I believe they possess the best character actors on the planet.
But their ending are always random and unexpected. They never provide any sense of closure which I dislike ALOT I need closure when engrossed in a story people. Lorna's Silence is not exception to this rule.
Arta Dobroshi gives an outstanding performance about a woman who is doing her best to secure herself finically. What I find interesting is that towards the last quarter of the film the film completely switches gears.
It shifts from this dark drama to this intense psychological thriller. Not sure how that happened. It was good movie I think I will go and check out other works done by the Dardenne brother's.
