I saw the documentry on this movie and all though his family were like that they hadn't found a miricle cure, Lorenzos oil is a cure for those who have mild signs of the disease but for kids like Lorenzo it only slows it down and suspends it.

There are cases where children are so well into the disease that Lorenzos oil doesn't help. Its a sad fact that the oil costs a hell of alot of money and that they still haven't found a total cure for this awful disease which is found to be caried on the female gene and active only in males.
