Review of Lorenzo's Oil (1992) by Sarah O — 07 Jan 2007
No one plays saintly mothers like Susan Sarandon. In this film, she not only endures the kind of suffering that would send any normal mom around the bend.... she actually discovers the cure for her son's illness, which makes her seem like a combination of Mother Theresa and Marie Curie.
And yet she's never saccharine; there's always a tired crease between her eyes and a tiny bite to her tone of voice. Perfect.
