Review of Lords of Dogtown (2005) by Brad Z — 26 Sep 2009
Not a well written script. The actors shine (especially Ledger and Hirsch) but the bias in the movie (Stacy Peralta wrote it) really bleeds through. The real emotional paydirt that could be had (the life choices that the characters make) is just skipped over to, I guess, keep the plot moving or just to get to more skateboarding tricks and scenes with Stacy being seen as a good guy despite everyone else. This is a great story of friendship and integrity that should have been done and should be done better. You'll enjoy this movie at times, but most of the movie you'll just be bored and annoyed.
5.6/10.
