Review of Lords of Dogtown (2005) by Susan K — 31 Oct 2008
I'm not really sure what compelled me to watch this film - probably the fact that I was a skater groupie in high school. The style annoyed me, but the narrative gets something right about skater culture (at least as I remember it).
There was a lot of directionless angst and a clingy to ideals that shifted so frequently that they almost didn't exist. The only true loyalty was to skating and secondarily, each other. I also found the undeveloped incest subplot between Tony and his sister intriguing.
