Review of Lords of Dogtown (2005) by Henri N — 23 Sep 2009
Considering this film made me want to research more into skateboarding (which I did do) it seems that it did impact me in some way.
The acting and dialogue was very good Emile Hirsch and Heath Ledger were excellent - but then again, everyone was excellent.
The film did have some awkward scenes where the look of the characters or the way they spoke didn't quite represent the 70's; this is likely due to them wanting the film to appeal to the contemporary culture of skaters who were likely it's financial backbone.
However, in all its machismo and hot temper, it showed many sweet and courageous moments of freindshipp, teamwork , persistence and ambition. All in all it demonstrates how the love of a few can be made into the love of many simply by exhibiting it to the public as truthfully and passionately as you would towards yourself. These kids found their own way to revolutionize culture and did it with loads of attitude ;-) .
Just one thing I don't understand is who the hell is "Sid"? I can't find any info on him.
