Review of Lord of the Flies (1991) by Graham L — 28 Jan 2008
Golding's novel is unfilmable not because of its symbolic underpinnings, structure, or portrayal of consciousness, but because it necessitates a large group of competent child actors. As this movie proves, that just isn't possible.
Almost every performance in this shoddy Americanized adaptation is jaw-droppingly awful.
