Review of Lord of the Flies (1963) by Sarah P — 17 Jan 2008
So good. It's a classic novel with a great, great artistic tone. And fortunately this film adaptation doesn't lose anything in the onscreen adaptation.
Cruel, dark and uncomfortable, this film works to exploit the stark realities of human nature. It's an original foray into a concept that has been done in more ways then one through the history of cinema, but in my opinion there have been very few efforts that have managed to capture the whole idea of social interaction.
The casting is spot on, and the setting brings the emotion alive. And this is one emotional ride.
