Review of Looper (2012) by Bheema D — 26 Jul 2014
Highly inventive and original. Extremely well directed, put together, and very time efficient. Gordon-Levitt owns his role with a lovable swagger and a pretty good Bruce Willis pucker-face impression. Enticing from the get-go, this film comes out strong but loses momentum halfway through.
However, a solid finish pulls it back together. The story is clearly portrayed above all else which seems a rarity in action films, and as great as the story and action are, the best part of this film is the directing.
The unique camera work, transition, and story telling are just awesome and really makes this a special film. This is the best film of 2012 thus far, should find itself in company with the likes of Inception.
Rian Johnson has certainly landed himself on my radar as one of the next big writer/directors.
