Review of Looper (2012) by Levent T — 03 Jan 2014
Great acting in a thrilling adventure set in the future.
However, the movie fails big time on the science elements of the sci-fi and also cannot manage to create a coherent story; number of loop holes in the story can become disturbing for the careful sci-fi nerds.
Movie does a good job in using narration, and also out-of-water characters to introduce elements new to viewers (looper, time travel, TK mutation, etc.).
Movie starts off with a rather fast moving and eventful first half in a dystopian big city vibe. Then it slows down almost to a halt, and turns into a psychological thriller as the stage is set as a farm house in Kansas. Yet again, it goes to a turbo-drive with Bruce Willis in Wolfenstein-mode [takes on the bad guys with big guns] action scenes. This change in tempo could definitely have been handled better by the director.
