Review of Looper (2012) by The Critic ( — 18 Oct 2013
An intelligently constructed science-fiction action thriller with an always engaging Joseph Gordon-Levitt in fine form, pursuing his future self (Bruce Willis) whilst avoiding his trackers (lead by Jeff Daniels). The complexities of the narrative are conveyed with care and confidence by writer/director Rian Johnson and there's lots of delicious detail to enjoy here. However, the true heart of the piece comes with Gordon-Levitt's interactions with an excellent Emily Blunt and her son, played by an incredible youngster named Pierce Gagnon in only his third big screen appearance to date.
'Looper' is a fast-paced, consistently intriguing exercise that will satisfy fans of the genré.
