Review of Looper (2012) by Jordan K — 04 Jul 2014
JGL has definitely matured as an actor, going from Third Rock from the Sun to The Dark Knight Rises. Now in Looper, he takes on his darkest role yet, as a nihilistic hired gun who "takes care" of the mob's enemies.
As a "looper", JGL shoots down men sent back in time from 30 years in the future until the one day when he is destined to shoot himself from that timeline. He is then allowed to live the next 30 years however he wishes.
When he does meet his future self, they become enemies, as they both race to protect or kill (respectively) a young boy who may be an ominous figure in the 30 years ahead future. This is a great movie, rife with action, suspense, and thought-provoking themes.
